Packet Pick-up and Bike Racking Rules
There will not be race day packet pick-up or bike check-in.
Please plan accordingly as you must pick-up your race packet on and rack your bike on Friday.
All participants are expected to attend packet pick up on Friday in person. This is due insurance liability mandates. All participants must show a photo ID, and all USAT annual members additionally must show their membership card. Per USAT rules, each participant must pick up their own packet. NO EXCEPTIONS. A unique wristband will be affixed at this time which must remain on through to the end of the race.
Mandatory Athlete Packet Pick-Up & Bike Racking
Friday, October 25
12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Location: Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort
Bikes will be racked in transition on Friday, October 25 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The transition area is located at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort. There is no race-day packet pick-up or bringing your bike into transition. Plan accordingly, as you must pick up your packet and rack your bike on Friday.

A beautiful lake swim on the grounds of the Lake Las Vegas from outside the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort beach park. It will be a time trial wave start from the beach on the back side of the hotel. There will be more information in your participant guide on the time trial wave start.
Sprint course will do one loop out of the resort on to the roads for a quick turn around back to the resort.
International course information to come. It will not include the three sisters.
Run courses, for the sprint and Olympic are on packed dirt through the desert.
Cut off times:
50 min swim from the last wave
90 min bike
60 min run
60 min swim
150 min bike
90 min run
Please understand that you must complete each leg of a triathlon within the cut-off times listed. If you do not finish each leg of the event within the cut-off time, a volunteer or race official remove your timing tag. You will not be able to go on to the next leg of the event.
Swim Wave Starts
You are assigned based on the USAT age rule, which means you are racing based on your age as of 12/31/2013. Your swim wave will be noted on your packet.

Las Vegas Cyclery and Iron Girl have partnered together to offer you a hassle free weekend. If you are looking to ship your bike, rent a bike or rent a wetsuit, we have it all right here for you! Las Vegas Cyclery WILL BE ON SITE AT ATHLETA IRON GIRL LAKE LAS VEGAS TRIATHLON in the parking lot 100 yards NORTH OF TRANSITION. In other words, we will be RIGHT AT TRANSITION. Yeah! It will be convenient for everybody so don’t worry. We will also have bicycle techs on the course helping out anyone who might have a problem.Weather Information
October weather is beautiful for a triathlon event, without the high heat of Vegas. The average temperature is in the 70's. Water temperatures for the lake are usually in the low 70's. This is a wet suit legal race and wet suits are allowed. Final water temps will be noted race week and again on race morning.
Event Day Information
The transition area is located at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort. Early arrival is recommended to allow time for you to park, walk to transition and get ready for a terrific race day. Transition will open at 4:30 a.m. and close at 6:20 a.m. Athlete wristbands will allow you in and out of transition. The Olympic distance will begin with a prompt race start at 6:40 a.m. followed by a 7:20 a.m. race start for the sprint distance.
Course Talks at Expo
We will have two course talks on Friday, October 25 attend to get the latest event information, directions and more. The course talk is not mandatory, but will help make a difference in sorting out race day.
Sister Madonna Buder
The USAT Southwest Region is thrilled to announce that the one and only Sister Madonna Buder will be our guest speaker at a reception to be held at 1:30 p.m. during packet pick up on Friday, October 25th. She will discuss her amazing journey into the world of triathlon.
Sister Madonna Buder, born in 1930, did her first triathlon at age 52, first IRONMAN event at age 55 and hasn't stopped since. She started doing triathlons as a way to "calm the mind, body and spirit." Known lovingly as the "Iron Nun" she continues to inspire and break barriers and even caused IRONMAN to add a new age category for women 80+. Don't miss this chance to meet one of Triathlon's most inspiring women.
She will also be available afterward to sign copies of her book,"The Grace to Race." Also, the first 50 USAT members who show their USAT card at the USAT SW Region Council table will receive a free Women's Commission cinch bag. The purpose of the Women's Commission is to inspire and encourage women to participate in triathlons at all levels -- from athletes to coaches, race directors to governance. The event is free and open to all.
Wet Suit Rules
USAT RULE Article IV Swimming Conduct
4.4 Wet suits. Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit
Please note we will do an official water temperature reading on race morning. But wet suits will likely be necessary.
Age Group Awards
Awards to the top 3 finishers in each age group will be presented limited edition Iron Girl jewelry from Milestone Jewelry. We will have 16 age groups: 15 - 17; 18- 19; 20 - 24; 25 - 29; 30 - 34; 35 - 39; 40 - 44; 45 - 49; 50 - 54; 55 - 59; 60 - 64; 65 - 69; 70 - 74; 75 - 79; 80- 84; 85+ You must be 15 years or older to participate in the event.
All finishers will receive a custom Iron Girl medal.
Strollers, Inline Skates, Rollerblades, Headphones and Dogs Not Allowed On Course
For the safety of all participants, strollers, inline skates, rollerblades, headphones and dogs are not allowed on the course at any time.
