Directions To Tempe Town Lake

South Bank Access
Direct access is available from the Red Mountain Freeway (Loop 202) and other connecting freeway routes. From the Red Mountain Freeway (exit south), motorists can access Rio Salado Parkway at Priest Drive, Rural Road or McClintock Drive.

Rio Salado Parkway is the primary automobile route on the south side of Tempe Town Lake. This scenic, four-lane road provides a direct destination route to Tempe Beach Park. The closest free lot to Tempe Beach Park is at Rio Salado Parkway, just north of the Ash Avenue intersection, behind the Pennysaver Building. This is a small lot and fills quickly.

A temporary dirt parking lot adjacent to the northwest section of Tempe Beach Park exists along Rio Salado Parkway, just west of the Railroad Bridge.

Underground parking is available at Hayden Ferry Lakeside for a fee. This building is located at 80 E. Rio Salado Parkway, just east of Mill Avenue on the north side of Rio Salado Parkway.

Monti's Restaurant opens a portion of its parking lot to Tempe Town Lake visitors for a fee. Monti's is located on the southwest corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway.

The America West Parking Lot, at Third Street west of Mill Avenue, may charge a fee for parking, but on some occasions, charges are waived for the day.
