The swim course will take place at Locarno Beach in beautiful English Bay. Each wave will consist of a beach start and single loop course. You will be supplied with a swim cap that must be worn during the swim. There will be no set cut-off times, however, cut-offs may be implemented by the Race Director.
The bike course will take you on a rolling tour of the University of British Columbia campus, overlooking the Spanish Banks Beaches, English Bay and the spectacular North Shore Mountains. Athletes will complete a single loop. Please stay to the right side of the designated bike lane at all times. There will be no set cut-off times, however, cut-offs may be implemented by the Race Director.
There is a turn-around point on the course on SW Marine Drive at Kullahun Drive, where you will round a grass median. Please reduce your speed as you near this points, and pay close attention to the course signage.
The run course heads from transition following the trails along the Spanish Banks Beaches. It will consist of a single loop. Course cut-off times will be implemented by the Race Director (TBD).
Race Package Pick-Up
Please take note of the following:
|1.||Every athlete (including all relay team members) MUST pick up their own race package and check in their own bike on Saturday. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS!|
||All athletes will receive a wristband at Athlete Check-In. Only athletes with this wristband will be allowed into Transition. Please note that you will not be able to leave Athlete Check-In until your wristband is secured.|
||All athletes will be required to show proof of their ATA, STAC or TriBC membership at Athlete Check-In to pick up their race package. (For those who have purchased a race day membership through the online registration system, no proof is needed and the Check-In team will have your information)|
To drop off your bike you will need the following from your race package:
- Your race bib,
- Your bike plate attached to your bike, and
- Your helmet sticker attached to your helmet.
Please do NOT go to transition without these items, as you will be turned back! This process is to ensure that all your race numbers match and are displayed properly, and will help you have a smooth and stress-free race morning. We thank you in advance for your understanding and assistance with this.
All bikes MUST be dropped off in Transition at Locarno Beach on Saturday. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS made for this. Anyone who has not dropped their bike off on Saturday will be removed from the start list.
All bikes will be kept secure and protected overnight by a security guard. Do not leave food in Transition with your bike, as there are animals in the park!

Athletes will receive a parking pass in their Athlete Race Packet that will allow them to park in the designated lots around Locarno Beach and the Jericho Sailing Center from 5:00am until 1:00pm on Sunday, August 7th. Please note that pay parking is in effect for SUNDAY, August 7th during Athlete Check-In. Please plan to use these designated lots. Those parking in the surrounding neighborhoods will be subject to ticketing and towing.
