Join us for the Athleta Iron Girl Webster women's triathon event at Lake Chaubunagungamaug! (45-letter Nipmuc Indian name for the lake. It is the longest place name in the United States and one of the longest in the world) Click here to watch the Essence of Iron Girl Video The lake's name comes from Nipmuc an Algonquian language and is said to mean, "Fishing Place at the Boundaries Neutral Meeting Grounds” There is another light hearted translation, "You fish on your side, I fish on my side, and nobody fish in the middle", thought to have been invented by the late Laurence J. Daly, editor of The Webster Times. The Iron Girl event experience provides women with the perfect platform for first timers and experienced athletes to reach their personal bests.
